PRIVATE DRUM LESSONS are taught on acoustic drum sets with high quality cymbals - two sets in each sound controlled studio so the student can model the teacher during the drum lessons.
Beginning drum lesson students start with snare techniques and move to full set, and we teach mallets (vibraphone) as well. Drum lesson students read drum set notation, learn the rudiments, and play along with recorded tracks.
Students bring in CD's from their favorite bands to learn and chart out the "tricks" and fills. If drum lesson students do not have a set at home, they can start with a practice pad and sticks. Our teachers are advanced professional musicians and can help experienced players build their skill set.
Usually eight years old would be about right for beginning drums. This can vary quite a bit depending on the size of the child. Being able to reach both the pedals and the cymbals is the main physical concern.
Let's face it, what's more fun than playing music!
Exceptional Private Drum Lessons Include:
University Trained Teachers
Our instructors are highly qualified and many have extensive performance experience. Most importantly, our instructors strive to relate their teaching to each individual student's learning style.
All Ages - Beginners to Advanced
Our current students range from 3 years old to many students in their 60's and 70's. We take care to teach what you want to learn so music is rewarding for students of all ages and levels.
Perform at our Talent Show
Private lesson students are invited to perform at our yearly informal "Talent Show" where they share their music with family and friends. This is not a formal recital and is not required, no pressure. Our Talent Show features students of all ages and levels, and many different instrumentalists for fun and variety. Students are not required to perform from memory, and a fun time is had by all!
Parent & Child Lessons - Together
There are many teachers that teach out of their homes. In between phone calls and domestic duties, they find time to give their students a lesson. This is not exactly the best place to learn a skill like playing a musical instrument. That's why taking lessons from a school that's well equipped, can offer a variety of programs, has front desk staff to answer calls and any questions you may have about your lessons has an obvious advantage for the serious music student.
Professional Environment
Our current students range from 3 years old to many students in their 60's and 70's. We take care to teach what you want to learn so music is rewarding for students of all ages and levels.
Regularly Scheduled Weekly Lesson
People learn skills like golf or tennis or even playing a musical instrument through regular and consistent review from a professional. Even Tiger woods has an occasional tune up from a pro golf coach. The way you do something, or "form", is a big part of learning any coordinated physical activity. By having your own private lesson with a professional instructor, your form is consistently being checked. This prevents the development of bad habits that can cause all sorts of problems and sometimes take a long time to correct.
