Piano Lessons: At our school four years old is the youngest age that we start children in piano lessons. At this age they have begun to develop longer attention spans and can retain material with ease.

Guitar - Acoustic, Electric and Bass Lessons: Five years old and up for private lessons and seven years old and up for group lessons. Guitar playing requires a fair amount of pressure on the fingertips for pressing on the strings. Young children generally have small hands and may find playing uncomfortable. Bass guitar students are usually ten years or older.

Violin and Strings: We accept violin, viola and cello students from the are of four years old. Some teachers will start younger children, but our experience has shown us the most productive learning occurs when the beginner is at least four year old.

Piano Lessons: At our school four years old is the youngest age that we start children in piano lessons. At this age they have begun to develop longer attention spans and can retain material with ease. Come join the fun and learn the basics in a positive, motivating class environment. Beginners can see everyone making progress in their class, get some individual help from the teacher and play together as a team. This is great for building listening skills and steady beat. Students learn using a songbook plus a music theory workbook. Reading musical notation is included and different styles are introduced. During the one hour class we also have time for musical games and other activities. Students can stay in the group setting for up to two years, or can switch to private lessons at any time. Special "Mini-Recitals" are planned up to four times a year where parents and families attend class to hear a performance.

Piano Lab (Keyboard)

• Pre-K and Kindergarten (4's and 5's) and 1st through 5th grade.

These are introductory keyboard classes for beginners with up to six students in each class. We teach a notation-based program, focusing on reading music and rhythms, technique, ensembles, and some theory activities. The teacher helps each student individually at their keyboard (giving each student their home assignment)for a small portion of the class during headphone time, and we also have a chance to play pianos together in ensemble (great for building listening skills and steady rhythm). Students work through their appropriate Theory Book with teacher help during table time, and we play a music game at the end of class. Parent Performance Days are scheduled throughout the year, and the teacher will assess the student's progress and recommend private piano lessons at the appropriate time. Students should have a keyboard or piano at home to practice weekly assignments.

Guitar Lab (Acoustic or Electric)

• Two age groups offered: 7-11 year olds, 12 years and up.

This class is for beginning guitar students with up to eight students, and we focus on learning to tune the guitar, reading music, melody playing, chords and strumming, basic skills and techniques, and ensemble playing. Students use a songbook plus a music workbook. Students progress at their own pace with individual help from the teacher, and play together as a team at class as well. Parent Performance Days are scheduled throughout the year and the teacher will assess the student's progress and recommend private lessons at the appropriate time. Students bring their guitar to class (a student size acoustic or electric is fine).

Singers Lab

• 1st through 5th grades.

Children love to sing, and this class will help young voices grow in an encouraging environment. Included in this class are warm-ups, breathing exercises, sight-singing, note recognition, introduction to music theory, score reading, appropriate repertoire including young Broadway, pop and folk songs through solo and ensemble singing. This class is an excellent choice before deciding on private lessons. Parent Performance days are scheduled throughout the year and the teacher will assess the student's progress and recommend private lessons at the appropriate time.
