Come join the
fun and learn the basics in a positive, motivating
class environment. Beginners can see everyone making
progress in their class, get some individual help
from the teacher and play together as a team. This is
great for building listening skills and steady beat.
Students learn using a songbook plus a music theory
workbook. Reading musical notation is included and
different styles are introduced. During the one hour
class we also have time for musical games and other
activities. Students can stay in the group setting
for up to two years, or can switch to private lessons
at any time. Special "Mini-Recitals" are planned up
to four times a year where parents and families
attend class to hear a performance.
Let's face it, what's more fun than playing music!
Group "Lab" Classes Include:
- Individual & Group Instruction
- Small Class Size
- Parent Performances four times per year(mini-recitals)
Piano Lab (Keyboard)
4 year olds, Kindergarten, 1st through 5th grade and Adult sections too.
These are introductory classes for beginners with up to six students in each class. We teach a notation-based program, focusing on reading music and rhythms, technique, ensembles, and some theory activities. The teacher helps each student individually for a small portion of the class during headphone time, and we also have a chance to play piano together in ensemble (great for building listening skills and steady rhythm). Parent Performance Days are scheduled throughout the year, and the teacher will assess the student's progress and recommend private piano lessons at the appropriate time. Adult Student performances also available. Students should have a keyboard or piano at home to practice weekly assignments.
Guitar Lab
Two age groups offered: 7-11 year olds, 12 years and up
This class is for beginning guitar students with up to eight students, and we focus on learning to tune the guitar, reading music, melody playing, chords and strumming, basic skills and techniques, and ensemble playing. Students use a songbook plus a music workbook. Parent Performance Days are scheduled throughout the year and the teacher will assess the student's progress and recommend private lessons at the appropriate time. Students bring their guitar to class (a student size acoustic or electric is fine).
Strings Lab
1st through 5th grades
We teach a blended Suzuki and traditional curriculum, with many activities to develop a solid technique with beautiful sound and intonation along with introduction of notation and reading. Students start with familiar tunes and learn from each other in the mixed age group setting. Parent Performance days are scheduled throughout the year and the teacher will assess the student's progress and recommend private lessons at the appropriate time. Students bring their appropriate sized violin to class (please include fine tuners on your violin).
