Voice Lessons: Six years old is recommended as the youngest age for private vocal lessons. Due to physical nature (proper breathing techniques, development of vocal chords and lung capacity) the younger body is generally not yet ready for the rigors of vocal technique.

Teaching Discipline: Learning to give effort to gain rewards is a life lesson all parents are eager to instill in their children. Just like learning to speak another language and other skill building activities, it can be challenging at times. Musicians learn that a disciplined approach to music study will lead to mastering their instrument. Through daily practice, a little practice each and every day, students learn that continued effort will lead to success.

Playing Music: The Secret to Stress Relief. Everyone is feeling, stressed out, these days, we hear it over and over	again. Listening to beautiful, soft, soothing music calms our mood and reduces the feeling of stress; just try this during rush hour traffic-it works! Playing a musical instrument is joyful and even more stress reducing, and washes the daily cares away.

Piano Lessons: At our school four years old is the youngest age that we start children in piano lessons. At this age they have begun to develop longer attention spans and can retain material with ease.

What's More Fun than Playing Music? Perseverance aside, playing an instrument is fun and rewarding. The more you play, the better you get, and the more enjoyment music will bring to your life. Sharing your skills with family and friends, meeting new people who are involved in music, or even pursuing a musical career are just a few life changing benefits of learning a musical instrument. Our Star Power Band series is our most popular series and is also our best value. You meet once a week for a private music lesson with your teacher for the individual attention you need to really learn your instrument. Your private lesson teacher will help prepare you for all of the performance events held throughout the year. You also attend one of the weekly hour long band sessions: Rock School, Jazz School, or Classical School offered for your age group. You will have a chance for solo and group performing, and might even be invited to perform at one of the local venues we book throughout the year. You will also be able to participate in all of the school concerts, festivals and competitions that we offer.

The world needs music! Are you playing your part?

Star Power Bands are for beginners through advancing players on all instruments. Learning to play together as a team, mastering your part, putting it all together as a stage performance, learning about basic styles and concepts is covered each week. Our teachers are professional "gigging" musicians with university training and real-world playing experience. Basic music theory concepts are also taught using examples from the songs the bands are playing. We focus on how music is put together with intervals, patterns, chords, steady beat and basic rhythms and rhythmic notation, 12-bar form and improvisation. Students move ahead in their skill levels at their own pace, and the teacher assigns parts appropriate for each band member. Rock 'n Roll (classic and contemporary), jazz standards, and familiar classics.
