Violin and Strings: We accept violin, viola and cello students from the are of four years old. Some teachers will start younger children, but our experience has shown us the most productive learning occurs when the beginner is at least four year old.

Guitar - Acoustic, Electric and Bass Lessons: Five years old and up for private lessons and seven years old and up for group lessons. Guitar playing requires a fair amount of pressure on the fingertips for pressing on the strings. Young children generally have small hands and may find playing uncomfortable. Bass guitar students are usually ten years or older.

Drum/Percussion Lessons: Usually eight years old would be about right for beginning drums. This can vary quite a bit depending on the size of the child. Being able to reach both the pedals and the cymbals is the main physical concern.

Voice Lessons: Six years old is recommended as the youngest age for private vocal lessons. Due to physical nature (proper breathing techniques, development of vocal chords and lung capacity) the younger body is generally not yet ready for the rigors of vocal technique.

Piano Lessons: At our school four years old is the youngest age that we start children in piano lessons. At this age they have begun to develop longer attention spans and can retain material with ease.

What's More Fun than Playing Music? Perseverance aside, playing an instrument is fun and rewarding. The more you play, the better you get, and the more enjoyment music will bring to your life. Sharing your skills with family and friends, meeting new people who are involved in music, or even pursuing a musical career are just a few life changing benefits of learning a musical instrument. You'll receive one on one attention that will speed you along toward meeting your goals. Students who take private lessons often improve more rapidly and develop confidence more quickly with intensive, individual instruction. Move from a beginner to full mastery of your chosen instrument. These lessons are geared toward your individual needs. 30-minute, 45-minute and 60-minute lessons are available. They can be intense or taught with an easy touch, depending on what you desire. If you want to croon like Sinatra, play piano like Alicia Keys or Van Cliburn, this is the program for you. Classical, Rock 'n Roll, Jazz and Blues - we will match you with a teacher who specializes in your style.

PRIVATE MUSIC LESSONS start with the basics of reading music and learning chord and scale patterns through fun beginning songs that are familiar to the student.

We teach the standard music lesson repertoire and techniques, moving step-by-step through skill building music, with modern and attractive method books.

Teachers choose motivating supplementary materials for each student that introduce many styles including pop, classical, jazz and more.

Students move to the intermediate and advanced levels, increase their sight-reading capabilities, and can work on improvisation and harmonization as well.

Let's face it, what's more fun than playing music!

Private Music Lessons Include:

University Trained Teachers

Our instructors are highly qualified and many have extensive performance experience. Most importantly, our instructors strive to relate their teaching to each individual student's learning style.

All Ages - Beginners to Advanced

Our current students range from 4 years old to many students in their 60's and 70's. We take care to teach what you want to learn so music is rewarding for students of all ages and levels.

Performances

Private lesson students are invited to perform at our yearly informal "Music Fest" where they share their music with family and friends. This is not a formal recital and is not required, no pressure. Our "Music Fest" features students of all ages and levels, and many different instrumentalists for fun and variety. Students are not required to perform from memory, and a fun time is had by all! For the more competitive spirit, our "Rising Star Music Competition" is available, with judges, trophies and cash awards. Adult students are invited to our "Adult Music Party" where they can meet other adult music students and perform (if they wish) for a friendly audience.

Parent & Child Lessons - Together

Parents can attend private lessons with their child for FREE, learning right along with their child, song-by-song, sharing the joy of music making and learning, and developing a fun and rewarding life skill together. Parent can reinforce the value of giving effort to gain reward through home practice since they will be practicing along with their child. Fun experience for teen/parent teams as well.

Professional Environment

There are many teachers that teach out of their homes. In between phone calls and domestic duties, they find time to give their students a lesson. This is not exactly the best place to learn a skill like playing a musical instrument. That's why taking lessons from a school that's well equipped, can offer a variety of programs, has convenient scheduleing for multiple family members on different instruments, and has front desk staff to answer calls and any questions you may have about your lessons has an obvious advantage for the music student.

Regularly Scheduled Weekly Lesson

People learn skills like golf or tennis or even playing a musical instrument through regular and consistent review from a professional. Even Tony Romo relies on a coach. The way you do something, or "form", is a big part of learning any coordinated physical activity. By having your own private lesson with a professional instructor, your form is consistently being checked. This prevents the development of bad habits that can cause all sorts of problems and sometimes take a long time to correct.
