Feeding the Brain with Music: The effects of music on the brain have been widely studied. Results indicate that children who play an instrument and are exposed to music do better in school than students who don't. And although higher IQ, reading skills and brain development may not be the first reason to learn an instrument, recent research reflects these benefit as well. Adults can help keep the mind alert and active, and sharpen the memory by learning to play an instrument too.

Teaching Discipline: Learning to give effort to gain rewards is a life lesson all parents are eager to instill in their children. Just like learning to speak another language and other skill building activities, it can be challenging at times. Musicians learn that a disciplined approach to music study will lead to mastering their instrument. Through daily practice, a little practice each and every day, students learn that continued effort will lead to success.

Playing Music: The Secret to Stress Relief. Everyone is feeling, stressed out, these days, we hear it over and over again. Listening to beautiful, soft, soothing music calms our mood and reduces the feeling of stress; just try this during rush hour traffic-it works! Playing a musical instrument is joyful and even more stress reducing, and washes the daily cares away.

What's More Fun than Playing Music? Perseverance aside, playing an instrument is fun and rewarding. The more you play, the better you get, and the more enjoyment music will bring to your life. Sharing your skills with family and friends, meeting new people who are involved in music, or even pursuing a musical career are just a few life changing benefits of learning a musical instrument. Our premier series is our most popular series and is also our best value. You meet once a week for a private lesson with your teacher for that individual attention you need to really learn your instrument. Your private lesson teacher will help prepare you for all of the performance events held throughout the year. You also attend one of the weekly hour long group sessions: Rock School, Jazz School, Classical School, or Classical Guitar School offered at your level of study (101, 201 and 301 series available). You will have a chance for solo and group performing, and might even be invited to perform at one of the local venues we book throughout the year. You will also be able to participate in all of the various festivals and student concerts that we offer.

The Conservatory Series Includes:

  • Weekly Private Lesson (30 or 45 minutes)
  • 30-minutes music theory in our Computer Lab with graded curriculum
  • 30-minutes performance: Play together as a band
  • Star Power Performances - Perform a solo for the class 4 times a year
  • Optional Texas State Theory Test
  • Two Yearly Student Concerts

Students work on their individual theory levels, and move ahead at their own pace. Play instruments with your group to learn how to play "together" (these bands do not perform at concerts). Younger students may stay in this class for several years, and move up to their next theory level each year. (101 Bands do not perform at concerts)
